Our friends Matt and Jenn in Kentucky are asking a favor from us. You may or may not have heard, they found an opportunity to start running a larger gym than they anticipated and now need a new name. Their choices have been narrowed down to CrossFit Maximus, or The House of CrossFit. Their new facility is over 20,000 square feet and they have around 300 members and want to hold many CrossFit Certifications at their place. Post which name you like and why in comments today. Thank you.

CRUD! I hate missing max weight days, maybe I'll luck out again and we'll go down for maintenance, I've missed every max deadlift day in the last 6 mo because of work. I need to just win the lotto quit my job and train full time!!Yeah I'll do that, why didn't I think of that sooner!?
On another note...Anyone interested in getting together for some rowing stuff please e-mail me and we'll figure out a couple of times that works for Jenn, Kevin and all of us...Kare

My vote is CrossFit Maximus...short and sweet! Congrats to Matt and Jenn for their huge accomplishment in opening a box!

Who gets to clean the floor at that monster gym? How about Crossfit Mine's Bigger Then Yours? Becky likes Maximus and I like anything Becky likes. Congrates Matt & Jen.

I agree with Amanda, The House of Crossfit seems way too proper and subdued. Crossfit Maximus reminds me of Gladiator!

CrossFit Maximus!!
"You can help me. Whatever comes out of these gates, we've got a better chance of survival if we work together. Do you understand? If we stay together we survive."
"Are you not entertained? Are you not entertained? Is this not why you are here?"
Some Gladiator quotes for you two! Best of luck!

Maximus. Definitely with a gym that big.
In reply to Kare, I would be down with picking up some rowing tips. Any tricks on getting 100 calories in 60 seconds?? Are you going this Saturday to class? I'll try to catch you after a class to discuss.
Posted by: Brett W | August 25, 2009 at 09:55 PM
Of course you can burn 100 cal in 60 seconds, all you have to do is to be able to row 500 meters in approx 20sec, is that a problem?
I'm going to try to make class on Saturday, but I might be home baking a cake. I was thinking about thursday after the 0900 class or some time later in the day next monday for a rowing "thingy" (Don't have my cert yet, can't call it a "class") Jenn, Kevin would either of those times be OK with the gym schedule? If not, I can come up with some other possibilities. Thanks Kare

CrossFit Maximus for sure. And I LOVE those quotes Saum. Nice.
Kare, let me check the master calendar tomorrow at teh gym. Monday will probably be fine. This Saturday won't work. I'll confirm...just remind me. ;)
Come on guys, keep on "pimping" as Carl Borg of CFE would say, the Fight Gone Bad fundraiser! Let's double our money...at least! Right now GREG has a $40.00 lead on KENNY! And KATIE and DUANE are tied at 3rd! Way to go guys!

Maximus you two awesome animals - miss you!!AND, I just sent another FGB email to my colleagues at work (cringe) so I am hoping for a push. There's no shame in FGB, right?
Posted by: Katie | August 26, 2009 at 07:50 AM
Jenn, how about thursday after the 0900 class? Can anyone come then?
Posted by: Kare Williams | August 26, 2009 at 08:30 AM
Wait, there is no 0900 class on Friday. How about 1100 am before the 1200 class? Anyone?
Posted by: Kare Williams | August 26, 2009 at 08:33 AM
Wait I didn't mean Friday, I meant Thursday...Is it too early to have started drinking?

Thanks for the great input guys. Our folks aren't real moved on either name. Another one we are considering is THE ROCK by CrossFit or CrossFit The Rock. Our building is all concrete and The Rock gives us some cool marketing potential (shirts, certs, races, etc.) We miss you guys in Tucson, and appreciate your input. None of this would have been possible without the inspiration we received from you guys.

Hmm..I noticed that Crossfit Max, Total, and Extreme were taken.
How about Crossfit300? Still has that "Maximus" era feel...Sparta-like. But it also tells a story. Years from now, when there are over 600 members, the story can be when the gym came together...there were only 300. ;)

If not the Maximus- the Rock sounds cool. Would love to do the row stuff.. but work M-F until 5. Maybe we can squeeze in a "class" before FGB those extra calories will help. Question? Is it possible to overwork yourself with the WOD's. Today I am feeling generally like sh**. Not sick really just kind of really really tired and sore all over (not the muscle sore either). Just wondering if maybe my body is telling me something. I love deadlifts, probablly my fav-but not sure if I should not just rest today. Any input? Saum loved the quotes...
Posted by: Tammie Senn | August 26, 2009 at 09:51 AM
Tammie- Our bodies are very good at telling us stuff, even though a lot of people ignore it. If you really feel bad, I say a day of rest may be what is "prescribed". See how you feel later, sometimes it shakes off by day's end and you feel better. Drink extra water today, may be a bit dehydrated after that monster workout yesterday.
PR'd my deadlifts by 8#, 230#, yea!!

Nice Job Kim!! Thatta girl!
Tammie, I agree with everything Kim said...and eat a little extra fat today. Water, sleep, and fat is my new solution to everything... ;) Maybe eat 9 extra almonds today or an extra 1/2 an avocado...something like that to give you some umph. See what you feel like towards the end of the day. Regardless, you need to rest either today or tomorrow no matter what.

This one was a tough one...mentally and physically. Dead lifts are my Darth Vadar and my light saver wasn't working tonight. I actually got a quick power nap this afternoon and woke pumped and ready to go with dead lifts going through my head. I was so stoked, but, it didn't happen. I also thought my new Oly shoes would bring a piece of magic to the lift I fear/dread most.

I'm so very proud of the ladies tonight! Jenn, Tammie, Amanda, Jaime! Great numbers! So proud of you all. And my MOM! Man, I clearly took after my Dad in the dead lifting department...no offense Dad...but damn Mom...you can rock a dead lift! Way to go! When I grow up, I want to dead lift like my Mom... XOXO
